RESOURCES FOR PATIENTS
What to Expect with Integrative Myofunctional Therapy
As a patient of Integrative Myofunctional Therapy, you will receive the best treatment for your Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders.
The best way to evaluate if you, a potential patient, might benefit from Oral Facial Myofunctional Therapy is to schedule a comprehensive OMD Assessment. The assessment will determine if customized Myofunctional Therapy is indicated. The assessment usually takes about 90 minutes. If indicated, our customized Myofunctional Therapy usually takes place in 3 phases. You will have ample opportunity to ask questions before making your decision to proceed with OMT.
We pride ourselves in our attention to details and getting to know you in this journey together to improved wellness and function. Age appropriate and creative motivation and incentives are utilized during the 3 phases of treatment.
The basics of our therapy involve creating an exercise regimen to directly deal with your symptoms. These exercises are designed to specifically address your issue and create healthy functionality for your facial muscles through consistency and repetition. It is a process of “re-educating” your muscles to align properly.
Myofunctional therapy is a program of specific exercises that target the facial muscles used to chew and swallow. It has been shown to address disorders ranging from sleep apnea and snoring to mouth breathing. It is a non-invasive procedure that is becoming a popular alternative treatment for sleep apnea.
